age 89, a lifelong resident of Maynard, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Concord Healthcare Center. He was the beloved husband of 45 years of the late Margaret "Peg" (Simpson) Salter Batulin, who died last February 14th.

Born and raised in Maynard, Mr. Batulin was a graduate of Maynard High School Class of 1936, and served in the US Army's Combat Engineering Battalion in the European Theatre during WW II. He was a surveyor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Works for many years. After his retirement he enjoyed golfing and crafting small furniture items for family and friends. He also enjoyed winters spent in the Cocco Beach-Merritt Island area in the 1980s and early 1990s. Mr. Batulin was a member of the Maynard Lodge of Elks and the Frank J. DeMars American Legion Post # 235 in Maynard.

He is survived by a step-son, John Salter Jr. and his family; two brothers, Gregory and Theodore Batulin; a sister, Sophia Forssen, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was the brother of the late Anna Murphy, Mary Thomas, Olga Gavriluk and Helen Dumas.

All are invited to the graveside service on Saturday, April 26th at 11:00am in Glenwood Cemetery, Parker Street, Maynard. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Mr. Batulin's name to the Boys and Girls Club of Assabet Valley, 212 Great Road, Maynard, MA. 01754.
