age 76, a resident of Framingham for nearly 30 years, died Monday, April 28,2008 at the Brigham & Womens Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of  Edward J. Doherty, to whom she was married for 29 years.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Anne (Ahearn) Gillies.  "Sharl" had a long and courageous battle with cancer but always retained her zest for living and her abiding love for her family. 

In addition to her husband, she leaves her children: Victoria Trundy of South Boston, Brian Trundy of Framingham, Bruce Trundy and Lisa Flaherty of Winchester, Edward and Patti Doherty of Maynard, Bernard and Donna Doherty of Ashburnham, Mary Kinney of Franklin, Robert and Theresa Doherty of Natick; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and a brother: Victor Gillies of South Boston.  She was the mother-in-law of the late William Kinney.

A funeral service was held Thursday, May 1st at 11:00am in Boyle Brothers Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham. Cremation followed at Newton Crematory. Visiting hours were Wednesday April 30 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial donations be made in Sharlene's name to: the David B. Perini Quality of Life Clinic at Dana Farber, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA.  02445
