O'Clair, Ernest Francis
affectionately known as "Oakey," date of death Sept. 4, 2010
age 82, died Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Acton.

Born in Concord, he was the son of the late Louis and Jennie (Blott) O'Clair. Mr. O'Clair graduated from the Waltham Trade School in 1946 and became a machinist. He married Hazel (Jenks) O'Clair on October 1, 1950, and worked many jobs in the early years until establishing his own business, Colonial Automotive Inc. in Sept., 1963. It began as an automotive repair garage, later becoming a busy auto parts store for a total of 41 years.

Mr. O'Clair was a member of the Acton Rotary, the Charles A. Welch Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Maynard, and the Maynard Elks. He and his wife were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in three weeks. The O'Clairs enjoyed travel and many cruises during their marriage, including trips to Germany, The Carribean Islands, Monte Carlo, Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. They has a winter home in Sarasota, FL. for 13 years, and had a summer home for 50 years on Bare Hill Pond in Harvard, MA. Mr. O'Clair also enjoyed a year of flying lessons.

In addition to his beloved wife, Hazel, he is survived by two sons, Walter O'Clair and wife Robin of Clinton, and Gary O'Clair and wife Colleen of Westminster; grandchildren, Courtney of Tilton, NH., Chad and Christopher of Clinton, and Stephen, Beth, Lynne and Craig all of Westminster; a sister, Patricia Willis of Hopkinton; a brother Leonard O'Clair and wife Gerda of Massapequa, NY., and a sister-in-law, Barbara O'Clair. He was the brother of the late George O'Clair. He is also survived by many relatives and cousins.

Visiting hours are Wed. Sept. 8th from 4-8pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be Thurs. Sept. 9th at 10am in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Central St., West Acton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life Care of Acton Patient Activities Fund, 1 Great Rd. Acton, MA. 01720.
