Acton Funeral Home; date of death August 23, 2010
age 78, a resident of Acton for the past 41 years, died Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Kindred Rehabilitation Hospital in Waltham. He was the beloved husband of 49 years of Lynne (Jones) Osborn.
Born in Amityville, NY., he was the only child of the late Nelson S. and Dorothy (MacGowan) Osborn. Mr. Osborn earned a Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College, and his Master's degree from Boston University. He was a development consultant for colleges and universities, including Dartmouth and Bradford Colleges, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Connecticut College where he met his future wife, Lynne. Mr. Osborn loved reading, opera and was especially interested in weather. He was a founding board member of the Discovery Museums in Acton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by cousins, Tricia Laliberte and family of Nashua, NH., and Linda Baxter and Ross Osborn and families of Washington State.
A memorial service will be held in the early fall at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Acton, the date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Discovery Museums, 177 Main St., Acton, MA. 01720.
