Hobin, Mary Elizabeth (Farrell)

Born in Madison, WI., she was a daughter of the late Dr. George B. and Elizabeth (Russell) Farrell. A summa cum laude graduate of Barnard College with the class of 1943, she worked for many years at the former family business, Hobin Insurance Agency, Inc., serving as president of the firm from its founding in 1946 to its sale in 1996.  She was a longtime member of the Catholic Women's Club and a participant in the Framingham Heart Study. Mrs. Hobin enjoyed her involvement in Brownies and Cub Scouts many years ago.

She leaves her children: Thomas  B.  Hobin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Patricia E. Cochrane of Natick and James F. Hobin and his wife Kathleen of Milford; 5 grandchildren:  Heather C. Spurling and Erin E. Robinson, both of Natick, Michael P. Cochrane of Holliston, Matthew J. Hobin and Jennifer A. Hobin both of Milford; 4 great grandchildren: Shannon, Connor, Joseph, and Ryan; 2 sisters: Alice G. Reynolds of Duxbury and Patricia J. Black of Narragansett, RI.  She was the sister of the late Dr. James B. Farrell, of Washington, DC.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday April 4 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church, 74 School St., Framingham (Saxonville). Burial followed in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Fenwick St., Framingham. Visiting hours were Thursday April 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Boyle Brothers Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham.  The family suggests memorial donations, if desired, be made in mary's name to: The Natick Visiting Nurse Assoc., 209 West Central St., Suite 313, Natick, MA. 01760.
