Prendiville, Kristen Elizabeth, MSW, LICSW Acton Funeral Home age 42, a Cambridge resident for the past 15 years, and clinical social worker at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of John and Mary Doris (Johnson) Prendiville of Acton. Ms. Prendiville graduated from Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in 1983, earned a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University, MSW from Boston College, and completed her certificate programs in social work from Boston University. She was employed for three years at Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos Advertising Inc. in Boston, and interned in social work with Parents with Toddlers in Brookline and VersaCare Outpatient Child and Family Service in Attleboro. She began her career as a clinical social worker at Boston Center for Children in Jamaica Plain and the MetroWest Mental Health Association in Revere, and later worked at the Cambridge Health Alliance at Somerville Hospital. For the past 5 years she was a staff clinician at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. A lifelong equestrian, she also enjoyed running marathons, skiing, swimming and rowing, and was a member of the Cambridge Boat Club. An active volunteer in the health field, she participated in Project Hope aboard the US Navy Ship Mercy in Banda Aceh, Sumatra and Indonesia following the tsunami of December 26th, 2004, and aboard the US Navy Ship Comfort in Pascagoula, Mississippi in response to Hurricane Katrina. She loved spending time with her family, particularly her twin nieces, Marrissa J. and Stephanie M. Lewis. Ms. Prendiville was the sister of the late John Prendiville III, and the late Karen Prendiville Lewis. In addition to her parents and nieces, she is survived by an aunt and uncle, Paul and Joan Prendiville; cousins, MaryAnn Rigas, Susan Fichandler, Patricia Prendiville and Jennifer Schillinger; extended family members and many close friends including Reed Donahue, Mary Nelson and June Rutkowski; colleagues at MGH; and her beloved cat, "Zooey." All are invited to visiting hours on Friday, May 2nd from 5:00-8:00pm in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington Street, Acton, beginning with the Reception Rite at 5:00pm, followed by visiting until the Vigil Liturgy at 7:00pm, then resuming until 8:00pm. The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 3rd at 10:00am in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, wilth burial following in Mount Hope Cemetery, Central Street, West Acton. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Ms. Prendiville's name to the MGH Cancer Center, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA. 02114.
